- Nvidia, Nike, Costco and Reddit are among the latest companies to block their shares from OKXICE.
- Most of the stocks the venue first proposed are now off its list.
- An SEC rule gives every company a veto over third-party tokens of its shares.
- Apple, Amazon and Tesla have not objected so far.
Nvidia, Micron Technology, Nike, Costco and Reddit are among 12 companies that have formally objected to OKXICE TSV trading tokenized versions of their shares. Their objections bring the total to 50 issuers in the venue’s October 30 public notice. OKXICE is the planned round-the-clock stock venue owned equally by NYSE parent Intercontinental Exchange and OKX’s US holding company. It proposed 63 ticker symbols from 62 companies on October 4, and under SEC rules every timely objection removes a stock from its launch list.
Five of Eight Showcase Names Are Gone
Objections now cover 44 of the 63 original symbols. That number is lower than 50 for two reasons. Seven objectors, including Wells Fargo and Arm Holdings, were never on the roster, and Alphabet’s single filing removes both of its share classes. In mid-October, OKXICE said it still planned to launch Nvidia, Apple, Microsoft, Amazon, Alphabet, Tesla, JPMorgan Chase and Walmart. Five of those eight companies have objected since then.

Apple, Amazon and Tesla remain open, and so do crypto-linked issuers such as Coinbase, Circle and Robinhood. That does not mean these companies endorse the venue, since some of them may still be inside their response window.
From 9 to 50 Objections in 15 Days
The first notice, dated October 15, named nine issuers, including Broadcom, CoreWeave and Verizon. The objectors passed half of the original roster on October 27, when JPMorgan, Coca-Cola, AMD and Dell were added in a single update. The latest batch went well beyond tech companies, adding CrowdStrike, Corning, Bloom Energy and USA Rare Earth alongside the consumer brands.
A 30-Day Letter Decides Each Listing
The veto comes from the SEC’s Innovation Exemption, issued on September 17. It exempts tokenized securities venues from registering as stock exchanges for five years, provided they trade through automated market makers on a public blockchain. An automated market maker does not match buy and sell orders the way the NYSE does. Instead, it holds a pool containing a tokenized share and a stablecoin and prices each trade from the ratio between the two.
OKXICE’s tokens are made without the involvement of the companies behind the shares. For tokens like these, Release No. 34-106402 requires the venue to send the issuer written notice, and trading cannot begin until 30 calendar days after the company receives it. A written objection inside that window takes the stock off the venue. An SEC staff FAQ published on October 20 confirmed that no token can trade while its window is still open.
OKXICE designed the rest of its venue to meet the order’s conditions. It would use permissioned Uniswap v4 pools on X Layer, OKX’s own blockchain network, with tokens paired against the USDT, USDC and USDG stablecoins. Each token would be backed one-for-one by a share held at an SEC-registered broker-dealer, and only verified wallets would have access.
Weekend Pricing Gaps Worry Issuers
Almost none of the objectors gave reasons. Applied Optoelectronics was an exception. It said it could not predict the effect on its stock price, liquidity and volatility, and it was concerned that investors would assume it had endorsed the tokens. It added that it saw no benefit large enough to offset those risks.
On a Saturday, with US exchanges closed, a token’s price would come only from trades inside its pool. News that breaks over the weekend could therefore leave the token and the actual share far apart when markets open on Monday. The SEC has acknowledged that such price gaps, along with problems keeping accurate shareholder records, are reasonable grounds for an objection. Nasdaq will keep its own shares off the framework. It has pointed out that such venues do not show the best available prices in real time or report trades to the consolidated tape, the public record of every US stock trade, and it is pushing its own SEC-approved model in which tokenized trades stay on the exchange. Nasdaq has also been accused of encouraging listed companies to file objections, and 23 of the first 38 objectors trade on Nasdaq, although the exchange has not confirmed any coordinated campaign.
No Launch Date Behind November 3
November 3 falls 30 days after OKXICE published its first notice, which makes it the earliest date the venue could start operating. However, each issuer’s window starts only when that company receives its letter, and those dates are not public, so objections can keep arriving after November 3. OKXICE has not announced when live trading will begin.
Issuer-Only Venues Avoid the Veto
TSV LLC was the first entity to notify the SEC that it plans to run a venue under the exemption. It lists only stocks that issuers tokenize themselves through their transfer agents, the firms that keep official shareholder records, so its model never triggers objections. OKXICE may also list shares that companies tokenize themselves, and 50 refusals give it a strong reason to negotiate with issuers directly. Offshore products such as Kraken’s xStocks are outside the SEC veto, so Nvidia can still trade around the clock as a token abroad but not on a US-regulated venue.
Companies may also gain more leverage over these venues. In a comment letter filed on October 19, the Securities Industry and Financial Markets Association (SIFMA), the main trade group for US banks and brokers, asked the SEC for two changes. It wants companies to be able to file a single standing opt-out covering every venue, and to object at any time, even after the 30-day window has closed. If the SEC adopts that, issuers could still pull the 19 symbols that remain open to OKXICE, Apple included, after their deadlines pass.
