OpenAI’s Oct. 28 customer story highlights how Legora uses OpenAI models, ChatGPT and Codex to automate legal workflows.
OpenAI on Oct. 28 published a customer story on Legora, framing the legal AI company’s platform as an “agentic operating system” for legal work. The piece says Legora uses OpenAI models, ChatGPT and Codex to speed up legal workflows, broaden contract analysis and allow lawyers to spend more time on higher-value tasks.
Evidence and context
The OpenAI post is the latest public signal around Legora after a series of recent milestones. On Oct. 21, Legora said it raised a $550 million Series E led by Atreides Management at an $8.8 billion post-money valuation, while reporting more than $200 million in annual recurring revenue, more than 1,000 employees across 18 offices and more than 140,000 legal professionals using its platform at more than 2,400 organizations in over 80 markets. Those operating figures were company-reported, not independently audited.
Separate recent coverage also points to adoption momentum. On Oct. 27, Stoel Rives said it was deepening its AI strategy by deploying Legora firm-wide, according to Legora newsroom material. Legora has described its platform as supporting legal research, document review, drafting and multi-step workflows for law firms and corporate legal departments.
Background material reviewed for this report says Legora was founded in Stockholm in May 2023 by Max Junestrand, Sigge Labor and August Erséus, with Junestrand as chief executive. The company says it launched its platform in October 2024, rebranded from Leya to Legora on Feb. 19, 2025, and had earlier said it first worked with Mannheimer Swartling, where the startup established its first office in one of the firm’s conference rooms.
The OpenAI customer story does not add independent financial detail, but it reinforces how Legora is positioning its software: as a workflow layer built around AI tools for repetitive, language-intensive legal tasks. The timing is notable because it follows the company’s large fundraise and a fresh customer deployment announcement, although the sources provided do not establish any causal link between those events.
