GitHub Copilot App Adds Integrated Diff, Terminal, Browser Tools

GitHub has introduced new features to its Copilot app, giving developers an integrated environment to review, test, and iterate on AI-generated code without leaving the app. The update includes a diff panel for code changes, a terminal panel for running commands, and a browser panel for live testing—all aimed at streamlining the coding process.

The diff panel highlights changes made to code, showing additions in green and deletions in red. This allows developers to review AI-generated edits, accept or reject them, and even request further adjustments from Copilot. The terminal panel enables developers to run and debug their code directly within the app, eliminating the need to switch to external command-line tools. For projects with user interfaces, the browser panel lets users test and refine features in real-time, using a tool called “Pick & Polish” to adjust elements on the fly.

This update reflects GitHub’s broader strategy of positioning Copilot as a comprehensive AI coding platform rather than a simple autocomplete tool. Since its launch, Copilot has evolved to include advanced agentic workflows, such as creating pull requests and working across repositories.
