Virgin Atlantic integrates OpenAI’s ChatGPT Work to streamline customer journey analytics, cutting research time and boosting decision-making.
Virgin Atlantic is leveraging OpenAI’s ChatGPT Work to streamline its digital strategy, enabling faster decision-making and improving its customer journey analytics. The airline has integrated the AI tool to consolidate data across touchpoints, from booking flights to post-trip feedback, empowering teams to act on insights more efficiently.
Virgin Atlantic’s Head of Digital Product, Nathan Bolt, highlighted how ChatGPT Work transformed their approach to competitive research. “What might once have taken weeks can now be accelerated into hours,” Bolt said. For example, during the development of its five-year strategy, the airline used the tool to analyze competitor data and map customer journey patterns, cutting manual research time significantly. The resulting insights shaped key investment decisions within the company’s strategic roadmap.
ChatGPT Work, launched in July 2026, is part of OpenAI’s push into enterprise-focused solutions. Unlike the standard ChatGPT, this tool specializes in multi-step workflows, offering businesses the ability to integrate disparate data sources, analyze trends, and create deliverables. Virgin Atlantic has tapped into these capabilities to unify its analytics and product planning processes. Teams can now use a single interface to access customer data, previously scattered across multiple systems, reducing friction in decision-making.
Head of Customer Experience Miles King emphasized the operational impact, describing ChatGPT Work as “game-changing.” The airline has built customized dashboards that bring together data from various sources, creating a connected view of the customer journey. This has allowed teams to spend less time navigating disparate tools and more time delivering actionable insights.
Beyond analytics, the tool has also enhanced Virgin Atlantic’s product development cycles. Teams are using ChatGPT Work to synthesize strategy documents, prioritize product roadmaps, and streamline quarterly planning. Bolt shared that the tool acts as a “chief of staff,” helping him manage tasks across email, Slack, and scheduling platforms, ultimately boosting productivity without extending work hours.
The adoption of ChatGPT Work aligns with Virgin Atlantic’s broader strategy of investing in technology to improve customer experiences. As OpenAI continues to refine its enterprise offerings, including features like connected apps and multi-step task automation, Virgin Atlantic is exploring further opportunities to deepen the integration of AI into its operations. “ChatGPT helps me spot what customers need, decide what matters, act faster, and deliver,” King added.
Virgin Atlantic’s use case reflects a growing trend among enterprises adopting AI tools to optimize complex workflows. With more than 1 million businesses reportedly utilizing ChatGPT Work globally, OpenAI is positioning itself as a leader in workplace AI solutions. For Virgin Atlantic, the tool is not just about efficiency—it’s a means to stay competitive in the evolving travel industry.
