Under the <a href=\"https:\/\/tax.illinois.gov\/research\/news\/digital-asset-tax-draft-rules-posted.html\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\" target=\"_blank\">proposal<\/a>, stablecoins would be treated as digital assets subject to tax, while nonfungible tokens would be excluded.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>DeFi transactions would generally be exempt unless users pay fees considered \u201cvaluable consideration,\u201d such as protocol fees collected for operating or maintaining a platform.
