Phemex CEO Federico Variola says AI has been a \u2018net negative\u2019 for crypto, despite the crypto exchange announcing an AI-focused transformation earlier this year.\u00a0<\/p>\n

Speaking on Cointelegraph\u2019s Chain Reaction, Variola said AI has diverted capital away<\/span><\/a> from the industry, while empowering attackers and driving up cybersecurity costs for smaller teams \u2014 pressures that risk pushing crypto toward greater centralization.\u00a0<\/p>\n

\u201cIt\u2019s difficult to be bullish about AI in crypto,\u201d he said. \u201cLiquidity have been significantly diverted to to that industry on one side. On the other hand, AI has empowered a lot of bad actors that have been exploiting protocols.\u201d<\/p>\n
