The Securities and Exchange Commission\u2019s (SEC) new regulatory proposal marks a significant step forward from a set of \u201cinapt\u201d crypto rules to clearer and more enforceable digital asset regulations, according to Commissioner Hester M. Peirce.<\/p>\n
A \u201cwhole generation has struggled with the SEC\u2019s insistence\u201d and the application of \u201ca set of inapt rules to crypto,\u201d but the SEC\u2019s new crypto guidelines mark an important step toward \u201cputting clear, sensible, enforceable rules in place for crypto offerings,\u201d said Peirce in a statement<\/a> released on Tuesday.<\/p>\n SEC Chairman Paul S. Atkins also praised the initiative and said that the agency\u2019s prior enforcement-heavy approach has \u201cdriven investment offshore, limiting the type of protections that we can provide investors here,\u201d according to a separate statement<\/a>.\u00a0<\/p>\n
