Bitwise investment chief Matt Hougan says projections tipping stablecoins to hit $4 trillion in value by 2030 could happen if major tech firms continue to adopt them.<\/p>\n

Stablecoins are more likely to go mainstream if adopted by major technology companies, a shift Bitwise says could help push the market closer to a projected $4 trillion by the end of the decade.<\/p>\n

Bitwise chief investment officer Matt Hougan said<\/a> on Tuesday that DoorDash and Meta\u2019s recent use of stablecoins for payments in limited projects is likely \u201cthe real killer app of stablecoins.\u201d\u00a0<\/p>\n

\u201cOn a relative basis, these are not a big deal. Both are pilot projects and the dollar amounts are small,\u201d Hougan wrote. \u201cBut they’ve answered a question I’ve had about stablecoins for a long time. They\u2019ve also increased my confidence that stablecoins will scale to trillions in assets and hundreds of millions of users.\u201d<\/p>\n
