Hong Kong has issued its first stablecoin licences, approving Anchorpoint Financial and HSBC\u2019s Hong Kong banking arm under the HKMA\u2019s new regime.<\/p>\n

Hong Kong has issued its first stablecoin issuer licenses, approving Anchorpoint Financial <\/strong>and the Hongkong and Shanghai Banking Corporation <\/strong>under a new regulatory framework overseen by the Hong Kong Monetary Authority (HKMA).\u00a0<\/p>\n

The HKMA announced<\/a> the initial batch of licensees on Friday, marking the first approvals under its stablecoin regime.\u00a0<\/p>\n

Anchorpoint Financial is the stablecoin joint venture<\/a> formed by Standard Chartered Bank (Hong Kong), Animoca Brands and Hong Kong Telecommunications. The Hongkong and Shanghai Banking Corporation Limited is HSBC\u2019s Hong Kong-based banking entity<\/a> and one of the city\u2019s three note-issuing banks.<\/p>\n
