Three House Democrats warned that leaving the SEC’s case against the Tron founder unresolved could \u201dundermine investors\u2019 confidence\u201d in the financial regulator.<\/p>\n

Three Democrats in the House of Representatives are asking US Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) Chair Paul Atkins to provide information related to the agency closing investigations or dismissing enforcement actions in \u201cat least one dozen crypto-related cases,\u201d including Tron founder Justin Sun.<\/p>\n

In a Thursday letter to Atkins, Representatives Maxine Waters, Brad Sherman and Sean Casten questioned<\/a> the SEC\u2019s \u201cpriorities and effectiveness\u201d given its dismissals of the crypto-related cases. The lawmakers wrote that the agency had \u201copenly and boldly dismissed the majority of its crypto enforcement cases,\u201d including those against crypto exchange Binance, Coinbase and Kraken.<\/p>\n

The bulk of the letter, however, urged the SEC to consider reopening its case against Sun. In February, the agency\u2019s lawyers asked a federal court<\/a> to stay its enforcement action against the Tron founder to explore a potential resolution.\u00a0<\/p>\n
