Speaking on this, Buterin <a href=\"https:\/\/x.com\/VitalikButerin\/status\/1992732552814305728?\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">said<\/a>:<\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<p>\u201cPrivacy is not a feature, privacy is hygiene\u201d<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>Top banks were alerted by service provider SitusAMC that certain client data may have been accessed. The timing of Buterin\u2019s comments made followers think that this was a criticism of traditional finance\u2019s reliance on reactive security measures, instead of having built-in protection measures.<\/p>\n<p>The statement comes just days after Buterin introduced Kohaku, a new privacy and security framework for Ethereum, as <a href=\"https:\/\/www.crypto-news-flash.com\/vitalik-unveils-kohaku-ethereums-most-significant-privacy-upgrade-yet\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">mentioned<\/a> in our previous story. The feature aims to make privacy a default standard on the Ethereum network.<\/p>\n<p>During a demonstration, Kohaku integrated with Railgun to conceal wallet balances in a single step. It demonstrated how privacy can be a function of the core layer. Speaking at <a href=\"https:\/\/www.crypto-news-flash.com\/vitaliks-keynote-triggers-wave-of-development-as-ethereum-world-fair-launches-in-buenos-aires\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">Devconnect<\/a>, Vitalik Buterin cautioned that the increasing influence of Wall Street could pose two key risks: the potential loss of core developers and pressure from large institutional holders to reshape the protocol.<\/p>\n<p>According to Buterin, major financial institutions already operate with high-performance internal systems and are not looking to optimize Ethereum for their own throughput needs. The Ethereum co-founder added that the priority should be preserving Ethereum\u2019s neutrality.<\/p>\n<h3>Buterin Warns Against X\u2019s New Feature<\/h3>\n<p>Vitalik Buterin also raised concerns over X\u2019s newly introduced feature that displays a user\u2019s country of origin. X\u2019s director of product, Nikita Bier, called it a measure to strengthen the platform\u2019s integrity.<\/p>\n<p>Responding to the rollout, Buterin <a href=\"https:\/\/www.crypto-news-flash.com\/crypto-community-alarmed-as-buterin-flags-security-risks-in-xs-latest-location-tool\/\">said<\/a> on Sunday that although the feature provides useful regional context, it also introduces notable risks.
