The decision has drawn strong political reactions and renewed focus on cryptocurrency regulation in the United States.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span>During an interview on \u201cSpecial Report,\u201d Zhao <a href=\"https:\/\/www.foxnews.com\/video\/6384817071112\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">said<\/a> he had never met Trump before the pardon. He stated, \u201cWe have never met. We have never talked.\u201d His statement came shortly after Trump confirmed on \u201c60 Minutes\u201d that he does not know Zhao personally.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span>The White House press secretary Karoline Leavitt described the pardon as an action that ended the previous administration\u2019s stance against cryptocurrency platforms.<\/span><\/p>\n<h2><b>Binance CZ Refutes WSJ Report on Trump Link<\/b><\/h2>\n<p><span>Reports from the Wall Street Journal suggested a link between Zhao\u2019s pardon and alleged cooperation involving a crypto project called <a href=\"https:\/\/www.crypto-news-flash.com\/world-liberty-financial-wlf-explained-2025-compliance-first-defi-with-global-ambitions\/\">World Liberty Financial<\/a>, associated with Trump family members. Zhao rejected that claim during the interview and said,&nbsp;&nbsp;<\/span><\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<p><span>That\u2019s completely not accurate. There\u2019s no deal, there has never been any discussions. It\u2019s as simple as that.<\/span><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p><span>However, Zhao acknowledged a single meeting with <a href=\"https:\/\/www.crypto-news-flash.com\/eric-trump-partners-with-world-liberty-financial-to-launch-real-estate-tokenization-project\/\">Eric Trump<\/a> during a Bitcoin MENA conference in Abu Dhabi. Zhao maintained that no financial or business association resulted from that meeting and called the broader reporting \u201ccategorically false.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span>The original charge against Zhao involved failure to put in place a proper anti-money-laundering program under the requirements of the Bank Secrecy Act. Zhao stated a preference to resolve legal matters promptly. Zhao said,&nbsp;<\/span><\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<p><span>I do not have anything to debate on the charges.<\/span><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p><span>Zhao also pointed to the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.crypto-news-flash.com\/us-treasury-considers-digital-id-in-defi-smart-contracts-under-genius-act-review\/\">GENIUS Act<\/a> introduced under Trump\u2019s administration, describing it as progress in establishing clearer rules for digital currencies. He added that previous administrations lacked structure for crypto regulation, but now the situation \u201cis getting much clearer, and the U.S. is \u201cdefinitely leading.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<h2><b>Binance CEO Calls Trump Pardon a Win for Crypto<\/b><\/h2>\n<p><span>However, reaction to the pardon drew criticism from certain lawmakers. Senator Elizabeth Warren <a href=\"https:\/\/www.crypto-news-flash.com\/binance-founder-cz-plans-to-sue-warren\/\">accused<\/a> Binance and Trump of coordinated efforts. Warren said in a post on X,&nbsp;<\/span><\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<p><span>CZ pleaded guilty to a criminal money laundering charge and was sentenced to prison. But then he financed President Trump\u2019s stablecoin and lobbied for a pardon\u2026he got it.&nbsp;<\/span><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p><span>Zhao rejected the accusation and has signaled intent to pursue a defamation lawsuit against Warren, arguing her statements misrepresented legal events.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span>Meanwhile, Binance CEO Richard Teng said the company and wider cryptocurrency sector were \u201cvery thankful\u201d for the pardon.
