Musk stated on a recent podcast that deployment is expected in a few months, after ongoing testing phases conclude.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span>He <a href=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=O4wBUysNe2k\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">said<\/a>,&nbsp;<\/span><\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<p><span>On X, we just rebuilt the entire messaging stack into what\u2019s called X Chat.<\/span><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p><span>He described the encryption system as <a href=\"https:\/\/www.crypto-news-flash.com\/p2p-networks-on-chain-vs-off-chain-explained\/\">peer-to-peer<\/a> and compared the model to <a href=\"https:\/\/www.crypto-news-flash.com\/what-is-bitcoin-btc-history-and-beginner-guide\/\">Bitcoin<\/a> due to its protective design. Musk stated, <\/span><\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<p><span>It\u2019s using a peer-to-peer-based encryption system, kind of similar to Bitcoin. It\u2019s very good encryption; we\u2019re testing it thoroughly.<\/span><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p><span>He also said there will be no advertising-related tracking in X Chat. He argued that when messaging platforms tailor ads, they must gather enough interaction patterns to target users. He warned that such systems open paths for outside access to private conversations.<\/span><\/p>\n<h3><b>Comparing X Chat Privacy Approach to WhatsApp<\/b><\/h3>\n<p><span>Musk compared the planned model to WhatsApp\u2019s structure. He pointed out his concern that ad-linked triggers could open private chats to breach attempts. He also stated that X Chat will exclude those \u201chooks for advertising\u201d entirely, presenting it as a clean communication channel.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span>WhatsApp\u2019s parent company,&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.crypto-news-flash.com\/meta-eyes-comeback-with-stablecoin-push\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">Meta,<\/a> maintains that it cannot read messages due to end-to-end encryption, noting that chat content, voice notes, media, and documents remain protected.&nbsp;Meta explains this through its FAQ, attributing protection to the Signal Protocol used inside the app.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span>Even with message content encrypted, some information, such as who contacts whom and how often people converse, remains unencrypted. Backup storage also does not automatically apply encryption unless it is manually set.&nbsp;<\/span><\/p>\n<h3><strong>X Chat Aims for All-in-one Messaging<\/strong><\/h3>\n<p><span>Musk said that the purpose of X Chat is not just sending messages. The goal is to add texting, file sharing, and audio and video call features. He mentioned,&nbsp;<\/span><\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<p><span>I\u2019m not saying it\u2019s perfect, but our goal with X chat is to replace what used to be the Twitter DM stack with a fully encrypted system where you can text, send files, do audio video calls, and I think it will be the least insecure of any messaging system.<\/span><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p><span>X Chat is expected to appear both within the leading X service and as a separate app for broader global use. This dual approach allows new users to access the service without needing an X account while also supporting those already active on the social app.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span>The project also aligns with Musk\u2019s larger plan for the platform he purchased in a $44 billion deal. His direction for the service has expanded beyond a posting site.
